Find Your Ambassadors

For many non-profit leaders, much of the day is spent managing the daily operations that ensure the mission of your organization is achieved. You are passionate about your organization's cause and have the great responsibility of making sure funding is met each year. There may be a gold mine of fundraising opportunities standing right in front of you each day, but there just aren't enough hours in the day for you to take advantage of them all. 

Take a step back and look around you. There’s a good chance you’ll find some very dedicated people you are overlooking who can boost your efforts substantially.

Identify the following people in your organization:

  • Social media followers who are engaged and sharing your posts/tweets
  • Hands on volunteers that jump at the chance to help
  • Past staff members or Board members that are still “drinking the KoolAid”
  • Sponsors (and their employees) who may be looking for public relations opportunities

...and the list goes on and on.

After identifying your key ambassadors, call and reach out to them.  Invite them to your office, explain the mission and goals that come from an emotional place that will evoke a spark of motivation, and then ask for their help with fundraising efforts. They will likely already be thinking of ways to help before you even ask.
